Timber Decks
Signature Pergolas and Decks offers a wide variety of high-quality, weather-resistant timber for decks to suit the harsh conditions that are typical of the Illawarra and Sutherland Shire. We also offer many accessories to compliment your deck, such as stairs, handrails, screens and balustrades. As licenced builders, we can handle any size project.
Whether you choose Merbau, Spotted Gum, Jarrah, Blackbutt, or Ironnark, Signature Pergolas and Decks can accommodate all timber materials to match your budget. While we do offer a wide selection of species, Merbau is the most commonly chosen timber decking board because of its termite and weather resistance – while still being economical.
Live in a fire-prone area or prefer a low maintenance decking option? Ask about our composite decking and aluminium decking ranges. We have built decks in many bushfire-prone areas in the Illawarra and Sutherland Shire, such as Helensburgh, Mount Keira, Engadine, Yarrawarrah, Heathcote, Darkes Forest, Wombarra, Coalcliff, Scarborough, Austinmer and upper Thirroul.
A wider decking board is often preferable for larger decks, as this makes the space appear less busy. As a general rule, it is also recommended that the decking boards are orientated parallel to your main access from the house (often a sliding door) so that you do not look out the the gaps between the decking boards from inside your home.

Timber decks offer an excellent opportunity to get creative, particularly at the front entrance to a home, or with properties located on sloping land.
Our decking boards are always fixed via a counter sink and superior stainless steel decking screws so that your screws do not rust over time which would cause your decking board to break away from the timber deck frame.

A timber deck is a great way to add outdoor living space under an existing alfresco. This can be extended further to create a much larger living space while still transitioning nicely from your back door. Another good idea is to pair your extended deck with an alfresco/pergola extension to truly maximise your available outdoor entertaining area.
